Got my Carolina GSD when he was 8 weeks. He’s 7 months now, already 70 pounds and growing 😂 BEST dog I’ve had and great with my 6 y/o daughter. He’s protects the house every way you’d want one too but also plays and wrestles around with my daughter without worry like a tiny puppy. Best of both worlds!

I have a bluetick coonhound German Shepard mix dog named Spike. He is a rescue and he is the sweetest, most loving and smart dog. People assume he is mean because he looks like he is but he is the biggest sweetie. I am so grateful I get to have him in my life ❤

The issue I have with my GSD, he won't even let me touch his feet. I got him from the shelter about a year back, the first GSD we got also had an issue with nail clipping, but she was more gently biting the hand and remove it from doing the work. A muzzle did fix that. The next one was so easy to work with, again a shelter dog, someone did a real good job teaching him as puppy to behave for nail clipping. Now this guy is different. There is a lot of anxiety in him and short of giving him tranquillizers to calm down for it, I am at my wits end. Someone seriously forgot to train having paws handled when he was a pup. Ear cleaning I have got him to hold still and relax, but a muzzle is still a must. He freaks now and then. Now for feet handling, I have tried touching and playing with them while he lays around and even then, he does not like his feet touched. So it is easier said then done with this new guy we have. He was a mess when I got him and has come a long way, but those nails, oh those nails.

I have two all black ones a male and a female. There both large dogs the male a little bigger probably 70’s pounds female probably 60’s. I have had dogs my whole life and this breed is hands down my favorite. All this info is spot on super smart dogs very smart dogs problem solving smart dogs. Great with kids and fiercely loyal very protective dogs. If your there pack they won’t let a stranger near you. I personally like that having kids.

Talking to the dog can help dogs can be fearful about meny things such as thuder and lightning or fireworksand pick up on fear in humans to a good friendly voice keep a dog safe and calm so talk to your dog.

I took a puppy to home when it is around 8 weeks old. I had it for 2 days and my parents forced me to give it back. I was so sad and kept on shades to cover my red eyes because of crying and went to give it back. My father had a soft corner so he came along with me. The momma dog's owners were out of town for the day so they gave it to next door. The mom dog was sitting in the stairs and i left the puppy with it. I sat there as I was still sad and wanted to cherish those few moment of them being back together as I have to go back. The pup went and drank some milk and was playing on its own. Mom was chewing on raw hide. My father was seeing this from down. As I started to go back and got down, the puppy with struggle climbed down each stair slowly and came to me. The mom was unbothered and chewing its hide. My father saw this and it touched him. He asked me to bring the puppy back. After bringing him back he was like we didn't even go to its mom. I was so happy that he chose me and that incident even erased my guilt of seperating a kid from his mom. I thought I chose him, but he chose me and it is the best feeling I ever had.

Just got my boys DNA test back he's a rescue and has a beautiful tiger striped brindle coat He's 50 percent German shepherd and 50 percent bulldog! Weighs in at close to 90 lbs but it didn't explain his brindled coat.

Dogs are notoriously fond of humans since humans are the ones who give them plenty of affection. My GSDs are probably more likely to defend me from another animal than from a home intruder.

Not a Shep thing.We have had as family the following Pit Bull. Rottweiler Labs,Treeing Coon Hound, Yorkie, American Spaniel, 7 mixed breeds ,a couple of not sure of's,all wanted to sleep with us. All except for one Lab were rescues.

Interesting, they are not imposing but they would be for someone who is not able to handle them. These are both very energetic and bold breeds.

My dog is 15 1/2 years old. She's tired, feeble, disoriented. Last night she refused to come back into the house. I brought her in. Today, same thing. So i decided to let her sleep in the yard today, in the shade, water there for her. I think she's wanting to die outside. (Elephant graveyard, Tarzan movies-- yes, i think some animals sense it coming, and want to be in a certain place of peacefulness and quiet.) I'll miss her.

I did a slow introduction for my German shepherds. Walks together was their only time together for the first week that got longer. Once they walked side by side with no issues they started being in the same room for 15 minutes until a month in when it was all day. Now they are best friends who play from 6am-9pm every single day

You don’t need to muzzle your GSD at all , if you need to do this then your dog does not trust you or you do not trust your gsd which is very bad as there one of thee most intelligent dogs there is…

I grew up with a great dog , he would sit all day next to mom , he was also friends with everybody on our block . But if mom was outside with him he was always positioned in front of his mom . Friendly but no one , no one but dad came within arms reach of his mom . Including my brother and me . A better son than we were .

I usually oven cook the chicken for my German Shepherd, then remove any bones that can be sharp. If you have time, chicken bones can be cooked in a pressure cooker, about 30 minutes. They become pretty soft, safer for your dog, plus it's a good source of marrow.

I came to this because my favorite dog in my apartment building, a European German Shepherd named Jager, was stuck outside with his momma. He's 15 and his hips just gave out. I managed to get him up and walking by luring him with the bag of beef jerky I just bought. I'm worried he won't make it much longer. Jen informed me that he was actually a European though, so I wanted to watch a video about the differences. I know AKC standards have made the already bad hip problem worse by selecting for dogs with shorter hind legs, but I wanted to see if that was present in the Euros. Edit: So yeah, I was right. Euros are less susceptible to hip problems, but Jager is older than what you listed. I guess he's on borrowed time.

Read that freezing for 2-3 weeks kills most bacteria present. E Coli is less sensitive to freezing (takes 2 wks) than Salmonella which is mostly destroyed in a 1 week.

My male chihuahua not never not once tried to hunt none of his daughters and when his daughter got fixed he had that her belly stitched up he was real protective of her again with lay with her and try to lick her belly and kept loving on her and stuff and growling if anybody got in here and when his son was a puppy he mainly had his son because I separated them as soon as I was weaned text wife she had the females and I had the daddy and the male pup and when his his son was a pup he loved that he licked him and played with him and he let the pup sleep with him and lay with him but now that the pups full grown and he's old it's different now now now now every once in a while they'll get in a fight and the daddy always growling at the Sun I guess because the sun is a grown dog now he's not a pup no more he's the son he's about 3 years old now my daddy he's 16 and when the Father and Son start to get into it always break it up I always make her pull the sun off of it cuz he's too old Innova daddy starts it every time
